The Santa Shoebox Project is an initiative of the Kidz2Kidz Trust, a South African registered Public Benefit Organization that offers assistance to children in need with current emphasis on Southern Africa.
Kidz2Kidz is a non-profit organisation that collects clothing, shoes, toys, blankets, bedding, toiletries, non-perishable foods, nappies etc. for children in need. Through their network, they aim to teach children the 'art of giving' and to create an awareness and consciousness of others less fortunate than themselves. learn more… The charity works through the co-operation of a number of schools, playgroups and clinics in the Western Cape who have agreed to be "drop off" points for donated items from the community. These items are collected, sorted through, packed and distributed to various institutions across the Peninsula. Currently 42 institutions are supported including:
Homes for abandoned, neglected and abused children
Homes for children living with HIV/Aids
Daycare and Educare centres where children are left with caregivers during the day and sometimes at night
Hospices which take care of sick elderly people who often have the responsibility of children at home
Feeding schemes set up in poverty stricken areas
